USA gymnastics is awesome Simone Biles shared limited news of a health scare on Saturday, an experience she said included “almost death.”
THE the most decorated gymnast in the world said on Instagram Stories that she had endured an unexpected situation and she thanked her well-wishers.
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s times,” Biles, 29, said on the social media platform. “But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
The athlete did not share what happened.
Representatives for Biles did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday evening.
Biles, winner of 41 Olympic and world medals, posted a photo of a trio of bracelets of the type given to hospital patients. She also sent love to members of her “close circle” who she said sent flowers, visited and checked in, and she posted pictures of bouquets.
“It was one of, if not the scariest experiences of my life,” Biles said, adding that she was taking bed rest this week.
Biles suggested the timing didn’t help: Her husband Jonathan Owens, a safety for the NFL Colts, was in Indianapolis for workouts, she said.
“I’ll explain sooner or later,” Biles said of the scare.
In a separate post, she included a photo of two dogs on a bed with the text “I’ll be there” and a screenshot of a heart rate monitor.
Biles and Owens have a home in Spring, Texas, a town about 25 miles north of downtown Houston, according to Realtor.com.
The couple attended a St. Louis Cardinals game on May 29 and Owens threw out the first pitch. She posted photos from the match on Instagram on Friday.
