Gas-X capsules sold across the country are being recalled due to potential chemical contamination due to a machine leak during packaging, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Haleon published a voluntary recall last week after discovering the drug may have been contaminated with coolant following a leak from a machine during packaging.
“Lots are being recalled due to potential contamination with diluted propylene glycol coolant from a machine leak during the packaging process,” the company’s announcement states.
The recall involves four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength 125 mg softgels in 120ct pill bottles. and 72 cents.

The company quoted 120 ct. bottles with lot numbers TL8K, YH9X and YH9Y and 72 ct. bottles with lot number X78N are affected by the recall. These affected products all have an expiration date of November 30, 2028.
THE impacted capsules were distributed around April 13.

Haleon said it has not received any reports of adverse events in connection with this recall. Anyone who has experienced problems that may be related to taking this product should contact their doctor or healthcare professional.
Gas-X Softgels are typically taken to quickly break up gas bubbles in the digestive tract and relieve pressure, bloating and discomfort. The green capsules are packaged in boxes with green, blue and gray stripes.
Haleon informs its distributors and customers by letter, e-mail and telephone. The company is arranging the return of all recalled products.

Customers who products purchased corresponding to the batch numbers are requested to stop taking the pills immediately and contact the company for return and refund.
“Consumer safety and product quality are our highest priorities at Haleon. The root cause of the contamination has been identified and repaired. Corrective and preventive actions have been implemented to prevent a future recurrence,” the company said.
Haleon is also the maker of other popular medications, including Advil, Theraflu, and Tums.
