The Indian government blocked messaging app Telegram until June 22, saying the platform was being used to “defraud candidates” taking the medical entrance exam. The restriction was issued under a strict provision of the IT Act, which allows “the government to block access to online sites in “the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India”.
