Serving more retro animated superhero action, X-Men ’97 returns to Disney+ this week for a highly anticipated second season.
Picking up directly from the acclaimed cliffhanger of the first season, the new nine-episode series sees the X-Men face a battle across time that looks set to change mutant history forever as they face their Omega-level foe, Apocalypse.
Spanning ancient Egypt, the 1990s and the distant future, this latest set of episodes sees main characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X and Beast joined by several new mutant allies and villains, including Polaris, Havok, Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Mariko and Danger.
Season 2 draws inspiration from the beloved comics The Rise of Apocalypse, Askani’son, and The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, and there appears to be more old-school X-Men on the way with a third season of the series already greenlit.
