TechRadar Verdict

The Noble Osprey’s endless fit issues have colored my time with them, so much so that I would be remiss if I didn’t make them the focal point of the review. It’s a shame because they look great, sound fantastic, and come in a svelte carrying case — there’s so much to love! If you’re happy with the heads continuing to drop (or think you can find a solution), please do so, but I haven’t been able to enjoy the heads as I hoped.

Noble Osprey: Two Minute Review

Ah, the noble osprey; see how the majestic raptor hovers above its prey, watching with piercing eyes the young trout – wait, what do you mean, those aren’t the first words of a David Attenborough narration? Oh. I’m glad you told me now.

The Noble Osprey are, in fact, a new pair of truly wireless earbuds from premium audio brand Noble. They’re not cheap, relatively speaking (and it’s a crowded market), but they undercut some of the best headphones on the market that graced our testing process. They are also more economical than the brand’s other buds such as the Noble FoKus Amadeus and FoKus Rex5, making them a bit more competitive than the previous ones.

Despite this cheaper price, the Osprey also shares some traits with its siblings. They have another distinct marbled look, this time in blue, and again emphasize high-quality sound, with a refined V-shaped sound profile and support for LDAC.

I really wanted to like the Osprey; I tested the FoKus Apollo on-ears which sounded fantastic and I love headphones that focus on refined, higher resolution sound instead of omnipresent bass. But over the course of several weeks of testing, I found myself repeatedly opting for other heads over the Osprey, which is not a good sign.

Unlike the birds of the same name, which soar freely in the sky, Ospreys are certainly sensitive to the force of gravity… which is to say, they just wouldn’t stay in my ears. I tested the different sizes and shapes of tips offered in the box, and even rotated and twisted the earbuds around awkward angles to see if I could fit them in my ear, but no cigar.

I don’t mean they wobbled when I was going to run; I could sit still and they would slide (I hesitate to use the word “yeeted,” but there it is) right out of my ears of their own accord. Even cooking or eating was a challenge with them; they fell off so often that I always took them off – or replaced them with a pair I didn’t test.

The problem was incessant and it sowed in me a reluctance to use the buds. This feeling colored my entire time with them. I don’t think I’ve ever used such an ill-fitting set of earbuds (well, at least a cutting-edge pair; they draw with the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4) like the Noble Osprey.

I only emphasize this point because it’s really a shame. There’s a lot to like about these heads. They have a distinctive look, offering some of the style of Shure-adjacent wired IEMs, but without the wire. The case is nice and small, and also holds a pretty significant charge.

And the audio quality of these Noble headphones is also good (when you can keep them), offering a V-shaped presentation but with delicate, sparkling highs and refined, detail-rich bass. Using dual drivers along with LDAC and Bluetooth 6.0 compatibility ensures you get the extra sonic punch you pay for. I just wish the headphones stayed in my ears so I could appreciate the sound quality more…

Noble Osprey review: Price and release date

  • Announced June 2, 2026, ships later that month
  • Sold for $199 / £199 / AU$292
  • Undercuts Noble’s other earbuds, the AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds Pro

Announced on June 2, 2026, the Noble Ospreys were shipped to the first buyers by the end of the month.

They cost $199 / £199 / AU$292, so they’re priced just a hair below the AirPods Pro 3 or Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, but in the same rough area of ”premium wireless earbuds” that indicates these are top-tier earbuds.

Not the highest level, I suppose, considering the other Noble heads. The Rex5 costs $449 / £419 / AU$699, literally twice as much as the Osprey, so this pair of bird’s-eye buds remains a very affordable model as far as Noble is concerned.

Noble Osprey Review: Features

Noble Osprey headphones in a man's hand.

  • Minimum 5 hours of listening, 7 hours without ANC
  • ANC passable, but struggles in the wind
  • The app offers an equalizer, but not much more

The Noble Osprey are headphones designed for audiophiles, and battery life is often a department that prioritizes the driving of these different drivers (and powering the anti-phase technology needed for noise cancellation). For example, the Osprey only lasts for five hours of listening time with ANC turned on.

This time extends to seven hours if you turn ANC off, which is a reasonable figure. The case’s 35-hour battery life is also reasonable, and I’ve tested many earbuds that don’t offer this amount of extra juice.

Speaking of the ANC, it’s passable, but nothing to write home about – the Osprey won’t be joining our best noise-cancelling headphones guide anytime soon. It removed the rumble of a bus and dampened the whir of a nearby washing machine, but didn’t offer the near-silence that many competitors offer. They also often had difficulty dealing with the wind.

The Noble Osprey app offers a few useful features, including the ability to customize what the earbuds’ touch controls do, turn off (or on) the ANC, and enable the Bluetooth tone switch.

The main tool, however, is the EQ, offering 10-band EQ or the choice of six presets. It’s a pretty effective EQ, letting you pull music in different directions, and you can save various custom modes in addition to presets.

If you don’t plan to use the equalizer, the app isn’t really worth downloading; it doesn’t offer much else, and there’s a dearth of extra features that often appear in consumer headphones.

Noble Osprey Review: Design

The Noble Osprey earpiece, with the tip removed.

  • Slim carrying case
  • Attractive blue marbled design
  • Not designed to stick in the ear

You’ve read the introduction, so you know that the Noble Osprey headphones just wouldn’t stay in my ears no matter what I tried. And before the “why didn’t you…” from the comments section: believe me, I test heads for a living, this isn’t my first rodeo. It took very little movement to dislodge them from my ears: taking a walk, sitting on a bumpy bus, moving around while cooking.

This was more than a minor annoyance; Basically, I couldn’t use them unless I was sitting at a desk, and even then the fit was unreliable. When they started to slide, they fell out quickly, reducing audio quality and, if I tried to push them back into my ears, forcing me to accidentally press the earbud buttons.

Occasionally I managed to fit them into my ears in such a way as to hold them, at least temporarily, in position, and once or twice I managed to go for a walk with the headphones on. But it was unreliable, hurt my ears, and still required me to adjust the fit almost constantly.

The Noble Osprey in a man's hand.

What’s the problem? These aren’t the lightest heads I’ve ever tested, weighing in at 6.5g, but that shouldn’t be enough to hurt the fit. At first glance, it’s the very heavy weight of the buds themselves, although the lack of friction in the tips (or perhaps a fin to help them seat in the ears) doesn’t help either.

Not only is it infuriating to constantly adjust the earbuds in your ear, but it also risks bumping each other’s touch controls. This is only a risk, however, and not a guarantee, as I found the controls unreliable to trigger.

The Osprey comes in a nice azure charging case – azure until it got scratched, which happened very quickly for me, making it a little less beautiful.

This case is quite small, with the buds nestled nicely into it, and it’s lightweight, tipping the scales at 61g. I haven’t found any information to suggest they are IP rated, but the casing certainly seems sturdy enough to protect the buds from a fall.

  • Design rating: 2.5/5

Noble Osprey: sound quality

The Noble Osprey in a man's ear.

  • 10mm driver + BA
  • Refined V-shaped sound
  • LDAC support

Putting fit issues aside (which are hard to put aside when they so frequently affect sound quality – but play nice!), the Noble Osprey sounds really good.

Each head has been fitted with a 10mm dynamic driver and a balanced armature driver, and they combine to create a refined V-shaped sound.

The bass is consistent and uncluttered, occupying a distinct space in the mix without overpowering the high-end frequencies. The highs are crisp and bright, giving sparkle to vocals and adding energy to strings or brass. And while the mids aren’t as prominent in the mix as, say, the bass, they take up enough space that the music doesn’t feel like there’s a void in the middle.

Songs like Don McCl oskey’s First in flight let the various high-frequency instruments and dancing bassline sit separately without falling into a chaotic mush. Acoustic guitars and vocals don’t clash like they do in cheaper headphones, like in Charlie Mars’ She won’t come backwhich preserves details and timbre.

The Noble Osprey earphone in a man's hand, next to the case on a table.

Osprey’s support for LDAC, for upgrading via SBC or AAC, helps with this detail.

Dual drivers bring another benefit: audio spacing. There is a distinct placement and wide soundstage in the music here. How to get it? Try Yi Nantiro’s Oasis, which sees the harp dancing around your periphery, or the London Symphony Orchestra’s recent recording of Holst The planetsin which you can basically indicate where each section of the orchestra was seated during the live recording.

The Osprey also gets quite loud if you push it, only distorting when you’re at the highest volume increments. I didn’t go that loud for most of my listening, but I appreciate that you can listen at higher volumes without losing quality.

  • Sound quality: 4.5/5

Noble Osprey Review: Value

Noble Osprey headphones on a wooden table.

  • Quite affordable compared to audiophile headphones
  • Expensive compared to mainstream products
  • Don’t offer a complete package like your competitors do at the same price.

The Noble Osprey sits with one foot (or claw? Talon?) in two camps. On the one hand, these are affordable audiophile headphones, designed for listeners who drive music quality above all else. On the other hand, these are high-end models aimed at the average consumer, who wants a more balanced overall package.

Unfortunately, while the Noble Osprey sounds really good, I’m not sure it sounds good at $200. The distinction between them and their similarly priced Apple, Bose, or Sony competitors isn’t pronounced enough, considering that these headphones tend to offer a more balanced design and broader feature set.

Of course, audiophiles who only consider audio quality may not want these other features, but the price is still high. For the same price as the Osprey, you can get other heads that work even better.

  • Value: 3/5

How I tested the Noble Osprey
  • Tested for a month
  • Paired with two different Android phones
  • Used for various activities and tasks

I used the Noble Osprey for about a month before writing this review, and the writing process added at least an extra week of testing time. I started by using the pre-attached ear tips and looked through different options included in the box, before settling on the two-tiered tips you see in the pictures.

Over that time, they’ve been paired with two different Android smartphones: a Motorola Edge 70 Fusion and a Realme 13 Pro Plus, both times with the app installed on the phone. Most of the time, music listening was done with Spotify and Tidal, while Prime Video and Now were used for movies – and various games were also viewed. I also used them for some calls and voice notes.

Initially, I used the headphones for a wide range of tasks, including walking around my area, commuting or traveling on various public transportation, and doing activities around my house. Towards the end of the testing process, when the fit issue made other uses frustrating, I only used them while sitting at a desk. I completely skipped several tasks that are part of my usual testing process, including trips to the gym and running errands.

I’ve been reviewing technology for TechRadar since 2019, which has allowed me to use countless headphones and audio products.
