Savannah GuthrieThe latest absence from “Today” has viewers wondering if it’s related to the kidnapping case involving her mother … but TMZ has learned that’s not what’s happening.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ…Savannah left for a few days to spend time with her family, and her absence had nothing to do with the investigation into the case. Nancy Guthrie kidnapping.

Savannah was absent from NBC’s morning show for a second straight day Thursday, with Laura Jarrett fill next to Craig Melvin After Sheinelle Jones took place on Wednesday.
His absence comes as the investigation into his mother’s kidnapping remains active. Nancy disappeared from her Arizona home on January 31…and authorities continue to investigate the case as a kidnapping for ransom.

As we have reported, the FBI is now clarify the confusion surrounding the ransom demands that surfaced during the investigation.
An FBI Phoenix spokesperson told TMZ… “The FBI and its task force partners received several ransom demands during this investigation. Some were deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still under investigation as such.”
The clarification comes after a report suggested the ransom demands were found to be false. Law enforcement sources previously told TMZ that the characterization was not accurateand an FBI official later told us it was “more likely than not” that two of the ransom demands were legitimate.
TMZ received more than a dozen emails from people claiming to know the identities of Nancy’s alleged kidnappers, demanding 1 Bitcoin in exchange for the information. The sender then claimed to know the location of a hidden phone containing photos and videos allegedly related to the kidnapping, again demanding payment.
