Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will end with season 5, and here are more details about the final season episodes.
Paramount+ renewed Star Trek: Strange New WorldThis is a fifth and final season, filming of which ended at the end of 2025, but which will only consist of 6 episodes instead of the series’ usual 10. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4which just premiered on Paramount+, will begin to bridge the stated end of the prequel’s “five-year mission” to lead into the beginning of Star Trek: The Original Series.
In an interview with ScreenRant’This is Liam Crowley Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4During ‘s press conference, executive producer and co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman offered more clarity on the format of Strange new worlds‘fifth and final season. Call of the last 6 episodes “a sequel… a set of episodes”, Goldsman says it’s a “goodbye in six episodes” It is “tonally more unique” than the genre standalone episodes of previous seasons. Read Akiva’s quote below:
Akiva Goldsman: I would say it’s a sequel. This is a set of episodes. I think they are more unique than what is typical of us. I think they’re moving toward the obligation that we’ve felt since the beginning of the series, which is how do we deliver the characters who have been with us to their known futures, and how do we deliver these characters that we know less or don’t know at all to their futures?
And so, we actually start charting the path for that in four, but really, five is goodbye. It’s a six-episode goodbye. And it’s not solemn, but it’s all the colors of goodbye. And it’s rare [that] you have a chance to end something. Shows are usually canceled or have a finale. And [we] I have to do everything. And we had the gift of being able to do it for six hours, and I’m extremely proud of that.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 This may be the series’ most daring genre experiment to date, as each episode screened for critics is distinct in tone and style. Goldsman’s description of Season 5 doesn’t specify a more serialized approach, but the overall arc is moving toward a farewell to this era of the Starship Enterprise and its crew led by Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount).
For its fifth and final season, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds must position its Star Trek: The Original Series legacy characters, like Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck) and Ensign Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), who will join Captain James T. Kirk’s (Paul Wesley) crew of the USS Enterprise.
Meanwhile, the fate of the characters introduced in Strange new worldslike Lieutenant La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) and Lieutenant Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia), will be revealed, as will what will happen to Number one (Rebecca Romijn)Pike’s first officer who does not remain on Kirk’s Enterprise.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds“The series finale will complete that of Captain Kirk. Terms of Use crew adding Thomas Jane as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy and Kai Murakami as Hikaru Sulu. The final episode would be Kirk’s first day as captain of the Enterprise, so that Strange new worlds ends where Star Trek literally begins in 1966.
The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to premiere in 2027 on Paramount+, and it will mark another ending in wrapping up the decade Star Trek aired on Paramount+ under executive producer Alex Kurtzman who began with Star Trek: Discovery in 2017. The second and final season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will likely air on Paramount+ before Strange new worlds.
Akiva Goldsman and his co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers remain hopeful and “Get ready” if Paramount+ orders their spin-off project on Captain Kirk’s first year on the Enterprise, Star Trek: Year One. This may depend on how Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 tops the Nielsen streaming charts as it boldly begins the journey to where Star Trek began.
