5 lessons on AI from CES for businesses

Since CES is owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association, it makes perfect sense for it to focus on consumer technology. But that doesn't mean there aren't significant business benefits, especially when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

This is especially true in a year when few technologies are generating as much excitement as AI and ML, especially when it comes to generative AI, including DALL-E and ChatGPT.

We asked vendor experts to give us feedback on the most important AI and ML highlights they saw at CES 2023.

1. Cutting-edge AI

"Thanks to the maturity and performance of cutting-edge AI hardware, coupled with advances in computer vision, we saw at CES not only innovative consumer products powered by AI, but also products AI-powered business processes to enable automation, scaling-up and improvement of many business processes in vertical markets.

“There were many examples of the transformation of AI at CES 2023 and its impact on businesses as a whole. Examples include autonomous robots handling a wide range of tasks, with AI powering machines farms for more efficient and sustainable farming, advanced mobility apps, sophisticated smart home devices and more.

“Yet many industries are still on the verge of transforming into AI. AI at the edge can completely rethink how we think about how the world around us works – powering devices like smart cameras, intelligent vehicles, autonomous robots, advanced traffic management tools, smart construction, etc., to run AI at their source AI at the edge has the power to change everything, enabling new applications to make our world smarter and safer."

—Orr Danon, CEO, Hailo

2. An AI Tipping Point for Marketers

"This year's CES made it clear that AI is at a turning point, not only in its inclusion in exciting consumer products, but also in how it integrates into people's day-to-day workflows. It's clear that these tools are rapidly changing from futuristic accessories to powerful must-have tools for advertisers to embrace.

“There are already an impressive number of tools that can help with everything from streamlining personalization to predictive analysis of trends in rapidly changing markets, to ensuring that marketing respects privacy. This year's CES was significantly more compact than other years, giving us the opportunity to hone in on how these tools can provide businesses with greater efficiency, effectiveness and transparency, allowing market specialists marketing more thinking time and ultimately strengthening their reputation and relationships with their customers."

—Neil Smith, Vice President, Enterprise Platforms, TripleLift

3. AI and data governance and IoT

"One of the key takeaways for enterprise technology leaders from this year's CES event is the growing importance of data governance in the world of AI and of ML With the increasing amount of data generated and collected by businesses, it is essential that organizations have clear policies and procedures in place to manage and protect this information.
