Martin Short spotted for the first time since the death of his daughter Katherine

Martin Court we haven’t seen him much since his daughter CatherineThe tragic death by suicide of… but he went out Friday night to dinner with a talented Hollywood director.

The longtime comedian made an appearance in Santa Monica… wearing a cute black blazer over a button-down shirt.

Photographers jumped him into a car driven by “Lost” co-creator JJ Abrams, who is a longtime friend of Short’s.

Short didn’t seem to be his usual chipper self – no smile on his face as he sat in the passenger seat.

Of course, Short hasn’t had much to smile about recently…besides losing long time friend Catherine O’Hara in January, his daughter died of a self-inflicted gunshot injury last month.

Katherine — who changed his name to Katherine Hartley to avoid being harassed by her social work clients – revealed her mental health issues in the past.

After his death, Short and his friend Steve Martin postponed shows their comedy tour…even though they plan to to come back on the road on April 11.

Katherine was 42 years old.
