Fiona Murtagh won a silver medal in the women’s single scull A final at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne on Sunday.
The reigning world champion put in an authoritative performance, leading the peloton at the halfway mark.
She quickly found herself engaged in a battle with Britain’s Lauren Henry.
The Irish rower fought to the finish, showing remarkable composure under pressure to take the silver medal while Henry took the gold.
Tara Rigney, who finished quickly, won bronze for Australia.

The Irish teams end the weekend in Lucerne with silver for Murtagh as well as a bronze medal on Saturday for Izzy Clementswith representatives having reached three A finals and placed each crew in the final races.
