Last Sunday was a normal trip home from a football match, but I didn’t expect tragedy to strike. As we pull into our driveway, there is a small hill that leads up to our garage.
That day we pulled into the driveway, happy. For what? Because right before we took our entrée, we were talking about God’s love. I shared how I recently heard data from a neurologist who said that spending 15 minutes a day thinking about God’s love for us changes our brains. My whole family loved this idea. My son, since this conversation, has even put this into practice and noticed how much he feels the presence of God.
So we pulled into the driveway that day, all caught up in this idea… My husband parked the car and my daughter quickly got out. Because we were on a hill, the car then moved forward slightly. And that’s when it happened. A cry rang out from my daughter!
“The car’s on my foot, Dad! It’s on my foot! Back it up! Back it up!”
Oh no! I thought. My daughter, my precious daughter, who dreams of playing football. What will become of his foot?!
My mind started to get fuzzy.
“In what sense?” » my husband shouted!
“I don’t know!!!” she shouted. I couldn’t think either.
My husband moved the car.
“It’s the wrong way! It’s not going on my foot anymore, Dad! Not on my foot anymore… Move it!!”
A car tire weighing 5,000 pounds rolled over his foot. Oh. My. Goodness.
Finally, he moved the car in the right direction. And then it happened – she walked away unscathed. No pain. At all. Perfectly good. Protected. Everything is clear.
Even though she was barefoot, God gave her complete protection. His love was alive, active and at work. God loves him and loves him. What a testimony.
He protects us too, even though many of us don’t even know the miracle of His protection at work. The delay that protects us from accident. The call that diverted the drama. The elimination of someone who caused destruction.
God has probably reversed a million tragedies and performed a million miracles in each of our lives. He loves my daughter and he loves you… He loves you deeply… He continually protects and guards you…
He is the shepherd of your soul and the guardian of your life, and he does it well!
After the horror moment, I went in and iced it anyway. My husband got out and took something out of the car. When we got in the car I didn’t have the Bible playing, but when my husband got back in the car it was playing Deut 4:34 which talks about miraculous signs and wonders.
Has any other god dared to take a nation from another nation by means of trials, miraculous signs, wonders, wars, a mighty hand, a mighty arm, and fearful deeds? Yet this is what the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes. (Deut. 4:34 NLT)
We had seen a miraculous sign and wonder, that’s for sure.
Let’s take a moment and thank God for His goodness, love, and protection – the millions of miracles we have experienced but may never have seen.
