Understanding Non-Toxic Bedding: What to Look for When Choosing Safe Sheets
When it comes to choosing blankets and bedding, most people focus on softness, warmth and style, but material safety is just as important. Many popular textiles are made with fibers or dyes that may contain residues you wouldn’t want on your skin, especially while you sleep. Understanding the difference between toxic and non-toxic textiles allows you to make healthier, safer choices for your home.
Start with the fiber: is it grown organically?
Many buyers assume that natural fibers mean safe fibers, but this is not always true. Cotton, for example, is one of the most widely used bedding materials, but conventional cotton is also one of the most sprayed crops in the world. These pesticides can persist in the finished fiber and remain in constant contact with your skin.
This is one of the reasons why we start with organically grown bamboo. The bamboo we use grows quickly without pesticides, fertilizers or intensive irrigation. It self-regenerates after harvest, helps reduce CO₂ levels and produces up to 35% more oxygen than an equivalent area of trees.

We only work with factories that use a closed-loop manufacturing process, meaning the water and non-toxic solvents used in production are captured, filtered and reused rather than released into the environment. This reduces waste and ensures that no harmful chemical residues are left in the finished fabric.
Additionally, we DO NOT use harsh chemicals like sodium hydroxide or carbon disulfide – substances often associated with poor quality or unsafe viscose production. Instead, our bamboo fibers are processed using natural enzyme treatments and eco-friendly methods that protect both people and the planet.

Comfort and durability go hand in hand. That’s why we make select blankets and bedding with an exclusive blend of viscose from organic bamboo and ultra-plush fibers spun from recycled water bottles. The process is simple and eco-friendly: bottles are collected, cleaned, pelletized and spun into a marshmallow-soft fiber that becomes our fluffy, eco-friendly filling. This prevents plastic from ending up in landfills and oceans, while creating a cozy, machine-washable product that you can happily take into your home.
