THE Ministry of Justicewhich has been criticized for withholding files on Jeffrey Epstein from the public, plans to publish a new batch of documents linked to the notorious sex offender “fairly soon,” MS Now reported Thursday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The development comes a day after the House Oversight Committee approved a motion to subpoena the attorney general. Pam Bondi be asked about DOJthe company’s handling of its investigations into Epstein and the documents relating to him that the law is required to make public.
“AG Bondi claims the DOJ released all of the Epstein files. The facts are clear: They did not,” Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said in an article on X Thursday when she submitted the motion. “The Epstein affair is one of the greatest cover-ups in American history.”
“The Epstein case is one of the greatest cover-ups in American history. His global sex trafficking network is larger than what has been revealed,” Mace said.
“Three million documents have been released, and we still don’t have the whole truth. There are missing videos. There are missing audio. There are missing logs. There are millions more documents. We want to know why the DOJ is more focused on protecting the powerful than on justice.
Mace, in a scathing remark about Bondi to reporters Thursday, said, “I have a lot more questions, and I don’t expect to talk about the stock market, so she better not bring those notes when she comes to the oversight committee.”
That comment was in reference to Bondi angrily telling members of the House Judiciary Committee last month that they should talk about a strong stock market when Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., asked her how many Epstein co-conspirators she had indicted. Bondi has not charged anyone in connection with Epstein.
Learn more about the Jeffrey Epstein filesThe DOJ, in a new statement Thursday, said “errors are inevitable” in a project of the magnitude of searching millions of documents to determine what is required by law to be disclosed about Epstein and his convicted pimp, Ghislaine Maxwell.
“When we are reported by the public, we immediately work to correct any mistakes the team may have initially made,” the DOJ said.
“As with all materials flagged by the public, if an item is found to have been mislabeled during the review process and is in compliance with the law, the department will of course release it.”
The Epstein Transparency Act, which Congress passed last year and President Donald Trump signed after months of opposition, demands that the DOJ make public all records it has on Epstein.
The DOJ did not do this.
It has released about 3.5 million documents in recent months, but withheld several million more documents. And new reports have revealed that the DOJ has removed some previously public files from public view.
Some of the files withheld included memos and notes about FBI interviews with a woman who said Trump sexually assaulted her when she was a minor.
Trump has never been accused of wrongdoing in connection with his former friend Epstein. He also claimed the records “exonerated” him.
The Oversight Committee asked this week Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Goldman Sachs”the best lawyer, Kathryn Ruemmlerbillionaires Leon Black And Ted Waittand three other people to testify about their relationships with Epstein.
The commission recently questioned the former president Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clintonabout Epstein.
