A timeline of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn's super private romance

Taylor Swift has been dating British actor Joe Alwyn for six years, and although her past relationship has been highly publicized, the singer is doing everything she can to keep this romance out of the spotlight. Even so, passionate Swift fans are determined to get to the bottom of her relationship with Alwyn, especially those engagement rumors.

Speculation about Swift and Alwyn's engagement (and marriage) has been circulating online for years, but in an April interview with WSJ Magazine, the 'Conversations With Friends' actor finally addressed the rumors (somehow). "If I had a pound every time I think I was told I was engaged, I'd have a lot of pound coins," Alwyn said. "I mean, the truth is if the answer was yes, I wouldn't say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn't say."

Since then, Swift and Alwyn have remained tight-lipped about their relationship, but the former may reveal a few things about it on her upcoming album, "Midnights," which is out October 21. Through a detailed explanation via Instagram of the album's opening track, titled "Lavender Haze", Swift revealed that Alwyn actually inspired the song.

Besides referencing Alwyn in her songs, Swift has only made a handful of public appearances with her Grammy-winning boyfriend. Although the start of their relationship is a bit hazy (she was still dating Calvin Harris when she and Alwyn first met), it's clear that Alwyn has her heart now.
