All UK strike dates from railways to nurses as teachers could announce pickets this week

It's a new year, but the winter of discontent for our railways, NHS, posts, borders and driving services has refused to budge.

Teachers, firefighters and junior doctors could all soon be added to groups looking at wages and conditions as inflation soars.

Rishi Sunak summoned civil service unions for talks today - but was accused of 'misleading the public' after appearing to open the door to offering nurses more money .

But government sources quickly shut that down - insisting he only wants to talk about 2023/24 pay - while leaving the 2022/23 cuts unresolved.

The prime minister has also angered unions by proposing legally binding 'minimum service levels' that will require a certain quota of workers to keep showing up.

Companies will be able to sue unions for damages and individual workers could be fired if they refuse to comply.

So which strike dates are causing disruption in the UK, and which are yet to come? Here is a summary:

If your driving test is interrupted, it will be rescheduled by the DVSA to another date. If there is no new reservation, check in as usual.

DVLA: January 9-13

PCS members at the DVLA's Birmingham office and those working on medical applications at its Swansea headquarters are on strike for five days.

Nearly 100,000 people with medical conditions have waited over a year for a new driver's license since Covid hit. PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka previously warned that backlogs could worsen due to industrial action.
