Amanda Seyfried, Meg Stalter and Ariana DeBose set to star in 'My Ex-Friend's Wedding'

Grab some popcorn and get ready to laugh with some of the funniest women in Hollywood. On March 3, Variety announced a new project from Sony Pictures, titled "My Ex-Friend's Wedding." Co-written by Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of such works as 'The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' and 'Daisy Jones & the Six', the upcoming film is described as a comedy following the adventures of four childhood friends played by Ariana DeBose, "Saturday Night Live Cast Member Chloe Fineman, Amanda Seyfried and Comedian Megan Stalter.

The story begins when an old friend calls the group the day before her wedding, saying she might be making a big mistake. Together, the four embark on an adventure to stop the nuptials and try to rebuild their relationship with their ex-BFF. The film will be directed by Kay Cannon, known for her work with "Blockers", "Cinderella" and "Pitch Perfect".

"When @kaycannon calls you say 'YES!'" DeBose wrote on his Instagram after sharing the news. "I'm looking forward to this one with these queens," she continued, adding that she herself was a big fan of Reid's "Evelyn Hugo" novel. Stalter also expressed his excitement for the casting on social media, summing up his love for his partners with a simple, "I love girls."

While more details have yet to be revealed, Joe Matukewicz, head of global acquisitions at Sony Pictures, has promised that good things are in store. "We spat our tea at the hilarious and heartfelt script of 'My Ex-Friend's Wedding,' and seeing Kay's vision made us want to pick up the phone to call all of our ex-friends," he said.
