Angela Rayner has warned that Labor needs to be more than “a bunch of Keir Starmers” if it wants to rule Britain.

The party's deputy leader said Labor There must be "diversity of thought" at all levels after the outbreak of the Gaza conflict, which exposed deep divisions within the party.

Speaking to i's podcast, Labour's plan to power, she added: "You can't do a puzzle if all the pieces are exactly the same. There have to be different elements to connect, and that's the crucial element for me. If we are to be an effective Labor government, we must be diverse. »

His comments follow years of speculation about tensions between Ms Rayner and Sir Keir after the Labor leader attempted to demote his deputy in a 2021 reshuffle.

She has since described their relationship as an “arranged marriage” that evolved over time.
