Aston Villa consider Pochettino as Gerrard replacement

Aston Villa are currently considering the possibility of making a bold bid to bring in Mauricio Pochettino should they decide to part ways with manager Steven Gerrard, according to The Telegraph.

Villa have made significant investments in the squad over the past 18 months, looking to improve their results and close the gap to the top of the Premier League table. However, this season things haven't gone well for Gerrard and his men, who currently sit in 16th place and are obviously too close to the relegation zone. They face a crucial period now as they prepare to face Fulham away, Brentford at home and Newcastle away in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked from Paris Saint-Germain in July this year. He recently rejected an offer from OGC Nice, but at Villa they hope a potential return to the Premier League, where he spent nearly seven years managing Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, would be more tempting for the Argentine tactician to 50 years.
