Banksy: Man arrested for removing street signs in Peckham

A A man was arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage after a road sign depicting a work by elusive street artist Banksy was removed, a announced the Metropolitan Police.

The man A work of art - a red stop sign with three military drones - was unveiled Friday on the corner of Commercial Way, in Peckham, south-east London.

It was taken by a man with a bolt cutter in less than an hour while Witnesses were taking photos.

Police said investigations were ongoing.

The Met, which launched an investigation after receiving a report of theft from Southwark Council, said the arrested man remained in custody.

The Officers said a new traffic sign has been installed by local authorities to avoid endangering road users.

"We are aware of the sharing images showing the removal of the sign,” the force said, adding that anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the sign should call police.

The sign was removed after Banksy confirmed its authenticity by posting a photo on his Instagram account.
