Barbarella plays THE GAME OF FRIENDSHIP with Brendan Meyer

Hello, my friends. Barbara here. THE FRIENDSHIP GAME is available now in theaters, digital and on demand, and stars Peyton List, Brendan Meyer, Kelcey Mawema, Kaitlyn Santa Juana and Dylan Schombing. You might recognize Brendan Meyer from The OC or Color Out of Space, and his latest project examines what happens when friends test the strength of their friendships with a game. I had the opportunity to speak with the charismatic young actor about his involvement. Check it out!

If your deepest, deepest desire came true, what kind of impact do you think it would have on your friendships?

“Well, I hope it would still be good. I mean, it would probably involve doing a ton of acting, if not more, for a very long time. friends if my deepest wishes come true. I don't know. I also have wishes to maybe have a family one day and all these things; it would also take me away from my friends. I don't know, maybe I'll waste time with my friends. That's why I have to soak it up now."

Get that time now, for sure.

"Yeah, exactly."

How did you get involved in The Friendship Game, and what appealed to you about the story?

"I auditioned; I sent in a tape. It's actually kind of an interesting experience because I sent in the tape at the end of 2020, and then I didn't hear anything, and I I was like, 'Well, one more thing, the tape was sent, I'm not going to think about it again.' Even though I thought the script was really, really cool and I was really drawn to the character, I I kind of forgot about it because it was several months. But I guess the filming was pushed a bit. They were originally going to do it in early 2021; it ended up being more like August.

"It was in the summer. They were like, 'Hey, I think you're interested in The Friendship Game. I think you will get it. And I was like, Friendship what? It hasn't already fired? Then I zoomed in with Scooter, the director, and I really, really liked it. Then it all happened pretty quickly. Somehow I forgot about it because it had been so many months and then I was doing it. So that was exciting."

How are you similar and different from Robbie, I mean Rob?

"I think he wasn't too far from me, actually. I think he's a fun-loving guy and hopefully a good, solid friend. I definitely had lots of friends in my life at different times. It was fun forming all these new immediate friendships with the three actresses. It's kind of funny because almost immediately the four of us bonded, but I was there in the role of Rob, so that was fun.

"I would say, overall, he's actually quite similar to me. He's probably a little cooler than me, not much cooler, but a little bit. [There were] just little things that I changed on myself to portray him in a way that suits him. I mean, maybe he's more of an outcast, an eccentric guy with his vibe and style than me. Maybe not in personality, but in style anyway, so those kind of informed subtle changes. So yeah, that was kind of fun. I feel like, overall, I connected with him pretty quickly, but there were little things for sure."

I liked the backgrounds. What was your favorite set to work on and why?

“Yeah. Well, what was cool, the setting that I found really interesting was where the big party was happening, because in the initial script there was a good atmosphere created by the script, but it was in a home. I think once we got to this filming location, it was an old hospital that was pretty much abandoned, and I think it might be about to be demolished at some point, s he hasn't already been. They had the...
