'Barbie' premiere: Margot Robbie and Alexandra Shipp work with Greta Gerwig to bring her vision to life

The Barbie movie is a reality but to fulfill Greta Gerwig's vision life, everyone had to be on board. At the red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, star Margot Robbie shouted out to the director saying most signed on because of Gerwig herself.

"I don't think most of us would have been involved if it wasn't for someone like Greta at the helm, but mostly Greta," Robbie said during the pink carpet at the Shrine Auditorium. "What she does with her movies...she's so smart, but she can also really deliver the humor and emotion and we knew we wanted all of this in a Barbie movie. I can't imagine anyone else doing it but Greta."

Alexandra Shipp said "it was really exciting" working under Gerwig, adding: "I was extremely nervous coming to this set and working with some amazing actors. Greta creates a safe ensemble, she allows you to be honest and articulate and have integrity in specific choices and she helps elevate that. "
