Beeple's Discord URL 'hacked', directing users to wallet drainer

Other users in Twitter's crypto community believe lax security management is to blame for latest phishing scam targeting users fans and subscribers of Beeple.

Beeple's Discord URL 'hijacked,' directing users to wallet drainer New

Non-fungible token (NFT) artist Mike "Beeple" Winkelmann has once again found himself the target of phishing scammers, warning users that the URL link to his official Discord server has been "hacked" - sending new unknowing members to a draining wallet Canal Discord if they follow the link.

In an October 3 post, the NFT artist warned users not to access the "fraudulent" Discord channel and verify as it will "empty your wallet".

it looks like our discord urls have been hacked to point to a scam discord. Do NOT go to this discord and check it will drain your wallet!!

again huge thanks to discord for being rubbish.

However, Beeple wasn't the first to notice the URL, with Twitter user maxnaut.eth noting in a post hours earlier that the Discord link connected to Beeple: Everydays - 2020 Collection on The OpenSea NFT Marketplace may have been "hacked".

The screenshot shared by maxnaut.eth suggests that the URL points to a "CollabLand wallet drainer", showing a Collab.Land bot on Discord that asks members to verify account ownership - instead of this, it works to empty their wallets, noting:< /p>

"Your Discord URL has probably been hacked and your team hasn't updated it to the OS. You need to change that ASAP or people are going to be rekd."

While Beeple claims the URLs were hacked and Discord is to blame, others in the Twitter crypto community argue that lax security measures are really to blame.

NFT analyst and blockchain sleuth "OKHotshot" responded to the artist's announcement, stating that the URLs had not been hacked, but instead alleging: "Mishandling of discord URLs allows let that happen, probably like it happened to CryptoBatz."
