England's men's summer began with a tense victory over New Zealand at Lord's wh When Joe Root scored his 10,000th Test in a masterful century.
It was a great opportunity moving for Root, who resigned as captain two months earlier.
He became the second England player to reach 10,000 points in testing - doing so at the age of 31 years and 157 days, exactly the same age as former team-mate Alastair Cook reached the landmark, making the duo the youngest to do so .
