Blockchain could be used to authenticate reality from what is generated by artificial intelligence (AI), suggested Congressman Tom Emmer on September 11 at the Permissionless II conference. This would combine well with other progress seen in U.S. cryptocurrency policy, he said.

Speaking before a panel, Emmer began on a cautious note, saying that Ripple and Grayscale's recent victories in court are still subject to appeal. But an upcoming decision from the United States Supreme Court “will perhaps […] put a stake at the heart of the administrative state.”

Emmer was apparently referring to the case of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, a challenge to the Chevron deference doctrine, which established in 1984 that a court must defer to a government agency when the law is unclear.

What the crypto industry needs from Congress is “to educate the industry and then find a solution,” Emmer said. He added:
