Blue Note Jazz Festival 2023 brings jazz, Latin, soul, hip-hop, R&B and funk to Blue Note, Sony Hall, The Town Hall, Beacon Theatre, Hammerstein Ballroom, SummerStage and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn; from May 31 to July 2, 2023.
This is one of New York's great jazz festivals. It's not just straight jazz. Jazz, like most American popular music, derives from the blues. It immerses you in R&B, soul, funk and hip-hop. The blues is what we got when they took away the African drum that came from Haiti to New Orleans. Latin is therefore a natural part of it.
