This is one of New York's great jazz festivals. It's not just straight jazz. Jazz, like most American popular music, derives from the blues. It immerses you in R&B, soul, funk and hip-hop. The blues is what we got when they took away the African drum that came from Haiti to New Orleans. Latin is therefore a natural part of it.
