LF: Johnson says he'll leave 'with his head held high'

The shameless Boris Johnson today boasted that he would leave office with his 'head held high' in a shameless PMQ.

The prime minister burst into parliament for the first time since his sensational resignation on Thursday.

After sordid scandals over parties, ethics, donors and his £112,000 flat renovation, he was eventually kicked out by his own MPs for lying about what he knew about the harassment allegations sex against a whip.

But in a raucous session that saw two MPs fired, Mr Johnson today said he was 'proud' of his record in a defiant statement - even as the leadership candidates Tories are jostling to wipe out his tax record and the government tables a vote of self-confidence.

And he hinted that these could be his last questions to the Prime Minister, despite the fact that he was due to appear next Wednesday for the last time.

Mr. Johnson has suggested the leadership race could be halted before the membership ballot, despite all candidates having voted to fight through the summer until a new leader is chosen on May 5 September.

The Prime Minister jokingly thanked Keir Starmer for being "considerably less lethal than other members of this House", adding: "In three years, despite all the opportunities, he has never really come up with an idea , plan or vision for this country."

Despite Northern Ireland being unresolved and in chaos, Mr Johnson added: 'After three years we have completed Brexit, which he voted against 48 times.

Tying the hands of his successors as they pledged to cut spending, he added: "Each of the eight candidates will pursue the largest infrastructure, skills and technology program ever achieved through this country."

He continued, "It's perfectly true that I'm not leaving when I choose. It's absolutely true.

"But I am proud of the fantastic teamwork that has gone into all of these projects, both nationally and internationally.

"And I'm also proud of the leadership I've given.

"And I will soon leave with my head held high."
