Boris Johnson has compared Vladimir Putin to "Dickens' fat boy" who wants to "give us the creeps" with threats to use nuclear weapons.

Speaking at a breakfast on Ukraine at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the former prime minister said: "Putin wants to present it as a nuclear confrontation between NATO and Russia.< /p>

"That's nonsense. He won't use nukes, okay. He's like Dickens' fat boy, he wants to make us shiver. He wants us to think about it. He never will ."

"He's not going to. Don't go down that rabbit hole, stop him," Mr Johnson added.
