The Boris Johnson documentary series is set on Channel 4

As the race to choose his successor intensifies, broadcaster Channel 4 has revealed plans for a documentary series about outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The four-part series, with the working title "Boris", will include one-hour episodes, which, "through a combination of rare archival footage and with access to those with knowledge Johnson's intimate life over the years...will hear from friends and foes alike to reveal his true self," according to Channel 4. It will explore how the seeds of political rivalry began in the halls of Eton where Johnson beat former Prime Minister David Cameron to school captain, his campaign to become student president at Oxford, then considering his rise to power, from becoming Mayor of London to Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Ian Katz, Content Director of Channel 4, said: "However the story of Boris Johnson's political career ended, he did more to change Britain and the nature of our politics than any other recent political figure. This historical series will attempt to answer the question of what shaped the boy who wanted to be king of the world and how he grew up to believe he could escape the laws of political gravity. »

The series was commissioned by Channel 4's head of factual entertainment, Alf Lawrie, and factual entertainment editor, Tim Hancock, and is a production of 72 Films ("The Trump Show").

Michael Winterbottom's drama series 'This England', starring Kenneth Branagh as Johnson, will bow to Sky in the fall.

Meanwhile, after heated debates on Channel 4 last week and ITV on Sunday, the next showdown between the Conservative Party candidates for the post of British Prime Minister, scheduled for Tuesday on Sky News, has been canceled after the former Chancellor Rishi Sunak and current Foreign Secretary Liz Truss declined to participate.
