Boris Johnson has refused to grant an extra public holiday to celebrate the historic victory of the English women at the Euro.
The Prime Minister had been called on to deliver a 'day of celebration' from Keir Starmer ahead of the Lionesses' 2-1 triumph over Germany last night.
But the Prime Minister's official spokesperson said: 'We all want to celebrate the Lionesses victory, but there are no plans to change the current public holiday pattern.

The idea of a public holiday was reportedly discussed within the government at the time, but sources stressed that the ideas were still in their infancy.
Ahead of last year's final, Mr Johnson refused to rule the idea out, saying: "I think it would be tempting fate - let's see."
