Boris Johnson raked in £21,800 an hour for lucrative work outside Parliament, new analysis shows.

The shamed ex-PM tops the list of MPs hoarding money from a second job on top of their base salary of £86,584 a year.

MPs can take on a second job but must declare additional income, as well as gifts, donations and participations.

Underground MPs have an average wage of £233 an hour in this Parliament, according to Sky News' analysis of data politicians provide to House of Commons authorities. The typical rate is 17 times the national average and 22 times the minimum hourly wage.

Mr. Johnson has since quit parliament, meaning he no longer has to record his income. Before stepping down, he has saved over £5million since leaving Number 10, including a string of highly paid speeches and an advance of £510,000 to write his memoir.

Her successor Liz Truss, who lasted just 49 days at No 10, earned £15,000 an hour from gigs, the highest hourly rate of any sitting MP.< /p>

Ms Truss has given a series of lucrative speeches, including an £80,000 speech in Taiwan in May on the Chinese threat.

Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross has logged the most hours outside parliament: 3,869 hours as a football referee since the last election.

Conservator Sir Geoffrey Cox has done the most work in the private sector, racking up 2,565 hours in his work as a lawyer. He has earned £2.4m since the 2019 election.

The Labor MP who does the most work outside of Parliament is Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who has worked around 1,000 hours in addition to his parliamentary role. He has previously said that he spends part of his income on paying his staff.
