Eight-year-old Chandler from Sydney, Australia is a happy kid like any other with a passion for LEGO, Transformers, Pokemon and Star Wars.

But on this year's Star Wars Day - May 4 - his world was turned upside down after he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer.

It was a month earlier, on Good Friday, that his parents Cong and Trang Tran had noticed a pea-sized lump on their son's left leg, just below the kneecap.

Their attention was drawn to the bump after they noticed Chandler limping around the house and asked if he had hit something.

"No, nothing happened," replied the youngster.

At that time, Cong noticed the bump.

"It was probably the size of a pea", Cong. "But it was pretty firm."

The lump stayed there and was causing little Chandler a lot of pain the next day, so his parents took him to the hospital.

"They had an X-ray and came back with nothing," Cong said.

"So they gave us painkillers and we went home."
