Boygenius: Being called a tortured artist is demotivating

"I hate live music", head Phoebe Bridgers announces festival poster, four-time Grammy nominee and one-third indie/alternative trio Boygenius. I hate 80% and 20% is transcendent."
His bandmates have some thoughts on this statement.
"Well, some people are fans of live music, like my father," says Julien Baker. "If he goes to a restaurant and there's a surprise Doobie Brothers cover band, he's thrilled."
"Oh, I find that uncomfortable," says Lucy Dacus. "You have to play that you listen to them.
"But I'm in the middle of it. Sometimes I walked into a bar and fell in love with every member of a band. But I also walked into a bar and thought, "I never want to hear music again."
"I have automatic tenderness for anyone who wants to play music," Bridgers decides. "It's just that they lose me at some point, in a myriad of ways."
