British Airways today began contacting passengers asking them to reschedule their flights amid row between Heathrow and airlines over the airport's passenger cap. London sparked fury from travel bosses on Tuesday after announcing an immediate daily limit of 100,000 passengers - a move that will affect tens of thousands of travelers in the coming weeks.

Airport chiefs have ordered UK airlines to 'stop selling summer tickets to limit the impact on passengers' as Heathrow already expects an average of 104,000 passengers daily outgoing in the coming months.

Following Heathrow's announcement, carriers reportedly held intense discussions with the airport and flight planners in an effort to reduce the capacity up to 15% at terminal 3 and 5.
