A tragic British tourist has died on his honeymoon after ignoring red flag warnings not to go swimming in the rough seas.

Ali Mohammed Mian, 34, had been on a dream trip for just two days after arriving on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand on July 12.

He was staying at the five-star Katathani Phuket Beach Resort and went paddling in the choppy waters, which are especially dangerous during the current monsoon rainy season.

Mr. Mian, from London, and a second swimmer, Thai Surasit Phonglaohaphan, 55, were both dragged away from shore on Kata Noi beach.

Rescuers brought the two men back to the sand and performed CPR before paramedics transported them in an ambulance to Chalong Hospital.
