Brittney Griner cuts Locs signings due to freezing temperatures in Russian prisons

Brittney Griner's signature locs no longer exist...and, according to her attorney, it's all because Russian prison temperatures were causing hair to freeze brutally.

Maria Blagovolina, who represented the WNBA star at his trial in Russia, told ESPN on Thursday that the 32-year-old had her hair cut two Sundays ago ... after she allegedly continued to freeze after showers in prison.

Blagovolina said that rather than deal with the problem for an entire Russian winter, Griner chose to cut everything.

"It's very cold in there and every time she washed her hair she was cold and shivering," Blagovolina said. "She should have waited until New Year's Day."

Griner had been rocking long hair for YEARS...rarely letting the flow go shorter than shoulder length.

The basketball player nevertheless looked ecstatic as she left Russia on Thursday. She smiled with her new haircut while telling at least one person on her plane that she was "happy".
