Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, said: "For the final appearance on the road of Bugatti's legendary W16 engine, we knew we had to create a roadster. More than 40% of all Bugatti vehicles ever created were of open-top design, establishing a long line of performance icons that to this day are revered the world over. which is why the introduction of the W16 Mistral2 continues this legacy, driven by huge demand from our customers for a whole new way to experience the powerful performance of our iconic engine. The W16 Mistral opens the next chapter in history of the Bugatti roadster, inspired by over a century of open-top legends."

For a car as evocative and important as this, much attention has been paid to the badge it should wear. Much more than a simple evolution of the Chiron, the roadster needed a name associated with freedom, elegance and speed. The inspiration came from the mistral, a powerful wind that blows from the Rhone Valley, through the chic towns of the Côte d'Azur in the south of France and into the Mediterranean. And with the engine so central to the character of this roadster, it stands side by side with that mighty wind: W16 Mistral.
