From the outside, 45 Cranley Drive in Ruislip was just an ordinary bungalow on a quiet residential street in West London.

Before all was revealed, neighbors said the occupants were friendly booksellers who liked to throw parties.

However, it was soon discovered that behind closed doors the two occupiers were using the address to run a secret Russian spy ring to smuggle sensitive British government information into Moscow.

Peter and Helen Kroger, whose real names were Morris and Lona Cohen, bought the bungalow in the mid-1950s and moved in to cover their clandestine operations.

In November 2017, the spy ring was exposed in a remarkable installment of declassified documents by Britain's security service, better known as MI5.
