Cardi B and Offset's McDonald's Deal Upset Some Franchisees, Say They're Not Family-Friendly
TMZ.com
The romantic dinner offer between Cardi B and Offset may be a hit with McDonald's customers, but some McDonald's franchisees still think they're bad for business.
That doesn't make much sense by the numbers, but Fortune reports that some of the brand's franchisees scoff at partnering with hip hop superstars...on the basis that their music contains profanity that is not "family friendly".
Grinning franchisees, if you will, even cite the company's "Golden Arches Code" (yes, they have one)...which states, "Partnerships with celebrities and influencers who risk harming our brand based on statements they have made or their positions on certain issues" are not permitted.
Another section of the Code states that "music partnerships associated with content that includes offensive language in the lyrics" are also prohibited.
McDonald's pulled out a bundle to launch Offset and Cardi's meal deal... buying at least $7 million in Super Bowl ad time — and it paid off.
