A carer won her battle over a £100 parking ticket which she called 'disgusting', after refusing to overturn it the first time.

Debra Rulach, from Bath, was visiting an elderly patient with dementia in an apartment complex when she parked her vehicle in a nearby car park.

When she arrived at the Palladian complex on October 7, she recalls feeling that all was not well in the apartments, reports Somerset Live.

She quickly parked her car in Victoria Bridge Square - without even stopping to lock it, she said - and ran to her patient's OR, where she found him in great distress.

After handling the case, by the time Ms. Rulach returned to her car, unbeknownst to her, she had been caught on CCTV cameras for parking without a permit.

She went on to explain that the situation she faced was significant: "Normally I get my client's parking permit and put it on the car as soon as I arrive. However, when I arrived this evening there, I saw that the lights in his apartment were not on.

"He's an octogenarian with dementia, so I was very worried when I saw this. I parked and didn't even lock my car before I got in. When I got to his apartment, he told me that he had somehow managed to turn off his electrical appliances and he was obviously very distressed.

"My call usually takes no more than half an hour, but that day it took a little longer because I had to calm him down and turn the lights back on. I arrived at 7:10 p.m. and the photo of my car was taken at 7:53 p.m., just before I left."
