Central Park Tango is the romantic dance of a summer night

Central Park Tango is an outdoor milonga at the Shakespeare statue at the south end of the mall. A "milonga" is a tango dance party.

It's free or pay what you want. We always give away $10 or $20 when they pass the hat.

Midsummer Night's Romantic Dance

Central Park Tango is a great dance for beginners, but dancers of all skill levels go there because it's so beautiful.

The New York Tango community is likely coming out strong this year (2021) as it's outdoors and we're crazy to dance again.

The ground is cobblestone, so don't wear good shoes. The organizers have put chalk in which you can intervene to make your shoes more slippery.

You don't need a partner. You don't even really need to know how to tango. There is usually a free beginner lesson.

Dress code is very casual. It's Central Park. Many people just watch. If you've never seen tango, this might make you want to learn to dance.

25th silver anniversary 2021

Congratulations to the Central Park Tango volunteer team. You bring much love and joy to Central Park and the New York Tango community. Thanks!

Shakespeare Statue Central Park Saturdays, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. From the first Saturday in June to the last Saturday in September

Central Park Tango's 2022 season runs from Saturday, June 4 through Saturday, September 24, 2022.
