'Cha Cha Real Smooth' Director, Cooper Raiff, Clementine Quittner Launch Production Company, Small Ideas

"Cha Cha Real Smooth" director Cooper Raiff and former Black Bear Pictures head of development Clementine Quittner are teaming up to launch a new production company, Small Ideas, to develop and produce independent film and television projects.

The duo team up to produce projects by emerging filmmakers and creators, as well as projects written and directed by Raiff. Their first project will be an undisclosed television series that Raiff will write, direct and executive produce, and Quittner will executive produce.

Raiff's most recent film, "Cha Cha Real Smooth," won the People's Choice Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Apple for $15 million. It was released on Apple TV+ in June. He's already lined up a follow-up, "The Trashers," which will feature "Stranger Things" David Harbor and escapist "Licorice Pizza" Cooper Hoffman and "Elvis" Olivia DeJonge. It will be shot this fall.

While working at Black Bear, Quittner worked company-wide on upcoming projects such as “Nyad,” directed by Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi and starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster, “The Marsh King's Daughter", directed by Neil Burger and starring Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn, and the film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Powers' novel "Perplexity". Quittner also oversaw the development of "Exciting Times," Raiff's serial adaptation of Naoise Dolan's novel starring Phoebe Dynevor.
