'Cheer' star Jerry Harris sentenced to 12 years in child pornography case

Jerry Harris, star of "Cheer" on Netflix, has just been sentenced to 12 years in prison in his child pornography case.

Harris was in court for sentencing on Wednesday, where a series of his friends and supporters read statements about the disgraced reality TV star's character. After a lengthy hearing, the judge announced the sentence of 12 years.

A federal source told TMZ…Harris was sentenced to 8 years of paying $35,000 to the AVAA fund for victims of crime, as well as a court-supervised release after imprisonment.< /p>

As we reported, Harris was facing up to 50 years behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of traveling with intent to engage in a illicit sexual behavior...federal prosecutors have recommended that Harris spend 15 years locked up.

The 'Cheer' star had been under FBI investigation since 2019. Authorities claimed he solicited sex from minors in cheering contests and coerced teens into send inappropriate photos.

He was arrested in September of the following year. The Netflix series even dove into its arrest in its second season.
