'Clark Kent' lookalike from January 6 hearing identified

The mysterious hunk sitting inside the January 6 hearing -- who goes by the name "Clark Kent" for obvious reasons -- is taking the internet by storm, and TMZ has learned his previously secret identity.

Sorry to disappoint people, but he's not a superhero...although he's in a heroic line of work. Sources tell us it is Alex Wollet, 23...a medical student from Ohio.

Right now, he's living in D.C. and doing a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health -- so, yeah... Dr. Fauci and co. having eye candy in the office. We obtained a photo of Alex wearing what looks like the same suit he wore to the hearing Thursday night.

The guy became a big online star during the TV audience...where he was - not by chance, we think - sitting in the front row. He's already getting so much attention that he's made his social media accounts private.

As you know, the January 6 Committee is still hearing about last year's insurrection...attempting to link former President Donald Trump to the takeover of the Capitol .
