"Clear case for inquiry into treatment of men in UK's nuclear testing programme"

These brave men were exposed to levels of radiation later linked to above-average rates of cancer and birth defects

There is now a clear case for a public inquiry into the outrageous treatment of the men who took part in Britain's Cold War nuclear testing programme.

Throughout our long campaign for justice, the Department of Defense has sought to confuse and obstruct any investigation.

These brave men were exposed to levels of radiation that were later associated with above-average rates of cancer and birth defects.

They received no recognition, no medals and no compensation.

The Ministry of Defense was well aware of the dangers and sought to conceal them.

Some documents that would reveal the truth have been removed from the public record. Medical records were allegedly falsified, withheld or destroyed.

An investigation must examine not only the testing program, but also the culture of secrecy that has added to the distress of families.

The poppy worn by Rishi Sunak at the Cenotaph this weekend is meant to honor those who have served the nation.

If he really wants to support the military personnel of yesterday and today, he will act now.
