Cooper 'wants more players' after Nottm Forest confirm 17th signing; Tottenham trio linked

Steve Cooper has suggested he would have liked Nottm Forest to bring in even more players after their 17th summer signing was announced.

On Friday afternoon, it was announced that Forest had signed Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jo. They paid 5 million euros and he will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Olympiacos, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Cooper declined to address individual players during his press conference to preview Tottenham Hotspur's visit this weekend.

Big weekend: Arsenal v Fulham, Henderson, Fofana, Southampton, Lage

Forest has been linked with three Spurs players this week, with Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga and Harry Winks all touted for moves to the City Ground.

"I can't and I won't talk about any player until they sign," said Cooper, who admits further additions before the weekend are unlikely.

"We have been linked to a lot of things, some may be true, some may not be. We would like to sign more players, I know we have signed a lot and we will not hesitate to talk about it.< /p>

"The reality is that we would like to have signed more than we have now, but that is the nature of the transfer window. We have a few more days and we will see where we end up.

"I don't have the exact number of the number of others I would like and my number may be different from the thoughts of others.

"But there's a lot of work going on. But the count we'll have at the end of the window will include people leaving, so there's still some work to be done.

"We want to get to a point where the window closes where we have good coverage for every position, but also a challenge for every position as well.

“We want to give ourselves the best chance of being able to compete. That's all we try to do. it shows that we have the right ambition.

"We are still going through the process, when the window closes, hopefully we will have enough players in our squad to cover every position, so that we have a competitive environment on the training ground."

Cooper's revamped squad will suffer the biggest test of their Premier League return to date when Spurs visit the City Ground on Sunday.

Antonio Conte has transformed the London club since taking charge last season and they will be aiming for a Premier League title challenge this season.

Cooper added: "It's a huge challenge, there's no doubt about it. The coach they have, the players they have, they're a very dangerous opponent in many ways, with and without. ball.

"But that's why we wanted to get into the Premier League, that's why we want to be in it, to play these games. We're under no illusions that it's going to be a really tough game, but we're not afraid, we'll give it a shot.

"It's home and we want to make the City Ground a really tough place to play and it won't be any different."

Cooper has revealed Morgan Gibbs-White will be assessed after picking up a knock against Everton last weekend which ruled him out of the Carabao Cup win at Grimsby.
