Cornet 'completes West Ham medical' ahead of £17.5m transfer, club 'far from done'

Maxwel Cornet is said to have 'completed his medical' ahead of his £17.5million permanent move to West Ham United from Burnley.

Cornet was one of the stars of the Premier League last season. In truth, he stuck like a sore thumb in a poor Burnley side.

His nine Premier League goals weren't enough to keep the Clarets going, but it earned him a return to the Premier League.

It is well known that he has a £17.5million release clause included in his contract and that was always going to make his departure from Burnley more likely.

West Ham became favorites to sign Cornet and earlier this week they activated his release clause.

Sky Sports report that the striker has now completed his medical. They state that the personal conditions are being "finalized".

The Hammers have already signed Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Alphonse Areola and Gianluca Scamacca this summer.

David Moyes is happy with the club's signings so far, but told reporters on Friday they were 'far from finished':

"We've made some good signings. We've also had an injury or two, which we have to take into consideration, but we're far from done in that respect," Moyes said (via PA Sport ).

"We lost three outfield players and a goalkeeper this summer. We didn't bring in any players in January, so we need to fill those gaps. We want to bring in quality players and we're working on that. ."

Moyes also revealed that new signing Scamacca is "a bit behind" the rest of his squad in terms of fitness:

"Gianluca just joined us so he's a bit late. I don't expect him to be available this weekend," Moyes added.

"He hasn't played a single minute of pre-season. It's hard to kick him out so early. His training is a little behind, he's been training but maybe not as consistently or consistently.< /p>

"We integrated it, I like what I see, but we try to put it in the best conditions to play.

"If you look at the world of football, there isn't a giant bunch of strikers.

"We watched Gianluca for a long time. His linking game is very impressive, he is young at 23, and I watch him and I have to give him time.

"There are already a lot of things that I like about him, he has given the team a boost and he will bring us another dimension.

"We won't push him too hard too fast and we'll bring him in when we feel he's ready to show his qualities."
