County Championship: Gloucestershire hope to win after Bears batting collapses in Bristol

Tom Price
L V = Division 1 County Championship, Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol (day two) Warwickshire: 274: Sibley 120*, Briggs 65; Zafar 5-64 & 58-5: Price 4-20 Gloucestershire: 255: Taylor 71, Zafar 55; J Yadav 5-30Warwickshire (5 pts) leads Gloucestershire (5 pts) by 77 runs with five wickets remainingMatch scorecard

Discarded for 274 earlier in the day as Warwickshire knocked out the hosts for 255 to establish a slim 19 lead in the first set, thanks in large part to a superb 5-90 comeback from Indian spinner Jayant Yadav.

Warwickshire had already resumed their first inning on 255-8, but Hannon-Dalby and Sidebottom fell in quick succession to leave Sibley high and dry over 120 paces.

But, the second time around, Price produced a blistering spell with the new ball to take out Sibley, Sam Hain, Will Rhodes and Yadav, while that David Payne represented Rob Yates as the Bears fell to 58-5 at the close, a lead of just 77.

Although Gloucestershire must beat last on rotating ground set to deteriorate further, they will consider themselves the favorites to register a first win of the season in red-ball cricket and plunge Warwickshire deeper into the relegation quagmire.

Need to beat the Gloucestershire low table to keep pace with other wrestlers Kent, Warwickshire will be delighted with the performance of Yadav, who represented key hitters Chris Dent, James Bracey and Graeme van Buuren before returning to mop the tail in the final session.

Gloucestershire were indebted to Jack Taylor, who scored 71 from 106 and shared a sixth wicket of 90 with Van Buuren to save the local 95-5 wreckage team.

But Price th turned the tales...
