Stephanie Blanchard and Jon Kotwicki of Alaska set out to convert a retired 1956 Douglas DC-6 cargo plane into a habitable space, l The plane is now leased. for $349 a night on Airbnb.

In a YouTube interview with Tiny House Giant Journey, the couple - who both work as pilots and flight instructors - details step by step DIY process. 

Jon estimates the renovation has cost more than $500,000 to date, with the plane costing about $100,000 and the dismantling and disassembly costing the same amount. delivered from Fairbanks to Wasilla on trailers. 

Footnotes from the short film show how the plane now rests on sturdy pillars, with one of the wings transformed into a balcony, while a staircase and The porch extension gives a more traditional entrance style.
