Cricket World Cup 2023: Pakistan confirms they will send a team to India

Both teams only played World Cups and venues neutral since 2013 due to political tensions.

"Pakistan has always maintained that sport should not be mixed with politics," said a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.

They will meet at the Asian Cup on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

"Pakistan believes that the state of bilateral relations with India should not stand in the way of achievement of its international sporting goals - related obligations," the statement added.

The neighbors have fought three wars have had a number of clashes in recent years. Both control parts of the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir but claim it in its entirety.

Declaration n Unconfirmed, however, if Pakistan will just play India in Ahmedabad on October 15 as scheduled or if they will request a change of venue.

He said Pakistan had "deep security concerns", adding: "We convey these concerns to the International Cricket Council and the Indian authorities.

"We hope that the complete safety of the Pakistan cricket team will be ensured during their visit to India."< /p>

The World Cup starts on October 5, with Pakistan opening their game against the Netherlands on October 6 .
