Cristiano Ronaldo has already broken two summer vows as Man Utd future uncertain

Cristiano Ronaldo already appears to have broken two Manchester United vows he made at the start of the summer amid renewed uncertainty surrounding his future. The runaway superstar put on a frustrated figure in the Red Devils' two-game opener of the season and United have now denied claims they are considering terminating the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's contract. p>

Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to leave Old Trafford for the second time this summer as he seeks to appease his insatiable appetite for Champions League football. Despite this position, the 37-year-old was called up by Erik ten Hag in each of United's two embarrassing defeats at the start of the new season - against Brighton and Brentford.

The Portuguese striker appeared to be sulky in both matches as he apparently broke his oath to United and the club's fans earlier in the summer. Speaking in June shortly after Ten Hag's appointment, Ronaldo appeared to commit his future to United's cause, insisting he believed the Red Devils could return to the glory days of yesteryear. However, he has since gone back on his word.

Ronaldo told United's social media: "Believe next year we're going to win trophies. I think Manchester [United] will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I'm there. always believe."

He then added: "The fans are always in my heart and they are the people we all have to respect because they are always by our side." However, both wishes seem to have been overlooked.

Despite insisting 'it takes time' to succeed, Ronaldo appears to have already given up hope that United can come back from their current slump as he remains determined to jump ship. The striker also appeared to go back on his word about 'respect' towards supporters.
